The date for Friends of Pool 9 MRAD has been set for July 16, 2013. More information will be forth coming in the first of May. The number of children and parents accepted for the day long activity needs to be at a manageable level and will be determined by the Board of Directors at the March meeting. An informational brochure and application will be found on the FOP9 website at friendsofpool9.org by May 1, 2013.
The event affords children a hands-on experience with nature, and assures parents it will be a safe and meaningful day. Participants will be transported to the activity sites and provided a lunch as well as a personal flotation device (life jacket) for the day. Adventures will include seining for fish, “pollywogging” for clams, collecting small invertebrates, touching a live catfish, and other activities led by experts in their field. It’s a Huck Finn/Tom Sawyer kind of day that treats children to the excitement of the Mississippi River.
