Mississippi River Adventure Day July 18, 2011
Registration forms for our 2011 event are now posted on our website. Use the 2011 Registration link to the left to download and print the Registration leaflet. When completing your registration, you must provide an email address that you or a member of your family can be contacted at. If you do not provide an email address, you will not be registered. Final directions and schedules will be sent to all participants via their registered email address approximately one week before the event. We will be using the same format for this year's event as we have in the past. Youth and adults will be transported by boats to the Mississippi River backwaters and islands for a day of Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn-like adventure. Participants will investigate an eagle nest, pollywog (dunk) for mussels, seine for fish, collect aquatic bugs and critters, learn about the floodplain forest plants and animals, enjoy a picnic lunch, and explore the Mississippi River under the leadership of outdoor enthusiasts and resource professionals.
There is no cost for children and their parents to attend the event. In order to participate all youth must be accompanied by a parent or adult leader (no more than 4 youth per adult). This program is designed for youth ages 5 to 15. All participants must be at least 5 years of age by July 1, 2011.
If you do not have access to a printer, you may call Ann Blankenship at 563-873-3423 ext 14 after May 1, 2011 and a registration form will be mailed to you. Participation is limited to the first 120 registrations.
