Digital Photography Workshop

Saturday, March 27th, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm

Kee High School, 569 Center Street, Lansing, Iowa 52151

Digital cameras have become all the rage in the last few years, quickly replacing the film cameras, polaroids and one time use cameras that were so popular for the last 20 to 30 years.

They obviously have several benefits. For starters, they are compact and fairly inexpensive, but perhaps their best feature is the money you save when you take them in to get your picture printed. Since you only have to print the pictures you like!  Another great advantage they have is that they allow you to download the photos right onto your computer, so you can send them off to friends and relatives with the push of a button.

If you are anything like me, all the gizmos and buttons these things have on them can be overwhelming.  When I bought my digital camera, I actually tried to read through the instruction manual. Having failed miserablly due to my lack of patience with most things digital and electronic, I gave up and reverted to just pushing the button on the camera and hoping that my pictures came out good.

Well here's your chance to learn how to use a digital camera in a friendly and informative atmoshphere. The Friends of Pool 9 will be offering a Digital Photography Workshop on Saturday, March 27th  at the Kee High School Cafeteria, 569 Center Street, Lansing, Iowa. Bring your own camera if you have one, otherwise we have several that can be used for the workshop. The functions on most digital cameras are the same regardless of the make or model.

We will be introducing you to many of the basic functions of a digital camera and sharing a little about how to take good photographs. We will have several practical exercises in the classroom in the morning, then we will take a break for lunch (on your own) and head outdoors together to see what we can capture on film, or should I say silicon!

We will reconvene indoors in the afternoon, to take a look at some of the photos folks took, and offer a little advice (if needed) for techniques to improve your photography skills. The workshop is free and open to the public.

To register please call Ric Zarwell at 563-538-4991. Registration is limited to the first 30 people to sign up.

There is no age limit for this program, but we would recommend that children be at least 8 years old to get the most out of this program. We will also have a few light snacks and beverages available during the workshop.  For those watching their expenses, you are welcome to bring a sack lunch.
